Neonatal babies at Gaza’s largest hospital, Al-Shifa, are in danger, according to the director general of Gaza hospitals, who spoke with Al Jazeera. The situation in the medical facility is rapidly getting worse.

Regarding the Al-Shifa hospital’s evacuation, Mohammad Zaqout stated, “We have stated multiple times that there is no place to move 40 incubators outside the hospital.”

His characterization of the scenario could not be independently verified by The New Rocket. However, earlier this week, images made public by the hospital showed infants removed from incubators and arranged side by side on a single bed as a result of power outages brought on by Israel’s assault and siege of Gaza.

We require a field hospital immediately. Zaqout disclosed it to Al Jazeera.

Egyptian Health Minister Khaled Abdel-Ghaffar said on Tuesday that the ministry is attempting to work with the Palestinian Red Crescent Society to arrange the transfer of 36 newborns. According to him, Egypt has ambulances with transportable ventilators ready at the border to take in newborns and transport them right away to hospitals.

However, Zaqout claimed that Israel is rejecting the transfer patient lists and that “the mechanism to transfer patients to Egypt is extremely slow.”

The Israel Defense Forces claimed that they have pledged to try and supply incubators and respirators for premature infants and kids at Al-Shifa Hospital. The IDF said on Wednesday that medical supplies and incubators had been supplied to the hospital by the armed forces

General Director of Gaza Hospitals: The Israeli troops invaded the surgical facility and questioned the medical personnel.

During an assault on the Al-Shifa hospital complex, the biggest hospital complex in Gaza, the Israeli military reportedly entered the surgery building’s ground floor and basement, according to the director general of Gaza hospitals.

Mohammad Zaqout claimed that the Israel Defence Forces questioned medical staff, patients, and their escorts in an interview with Al Jazeera Arabic.

The director general, who met with the doctors at Al-Shifa while not present at the hospital, said that some of the escorts were made to undress.

Israeli tanks, according to Zaqout, have begun to leave the compound.

While acknowledging that the operation was still ongoing at the time of the briefing, a senior Israeli defence official informed reporters early on Wednesday afternoon that they had no knowledge of any interrogations taking place inside the facility.

Israel reported that early on Wednesday morning, its forces conducted a targeted assault against Hamas inside the Al-Shifa hospital, which is thought to be the shelter for thousands of Palestinians.

The hospital’s position has drastically deteriorated in recent days due to intense fighting; doctors have warned of a disastrous situation for patients, staff, and displaced persons still inside. The facility has run out of fuel and is no longer deemed operable.
