The Houthi navy of Yemen has issued a fresh warning to Israeli ships in the Red Sea.
The Houthi naval forces issued a fresh warning to Israeli-owned or Israeli-managed ships flying the Israeli flag in the Red Sea in a statement broadcast on Wednesday.
It stated that the organization would continue to carry out military actions against Israeli interests and ships until Israel’s “aggression against Gaza stops.”
Any military units defending Israeli ships would be seen as valid targets for Houthi attacks, the statement threatened.
In addition, the naval forces issued a warning to all businesses and traders about the potential consequences of carrying their products or interests with Israeli warships.
The message stated that the Houthi naval forces specifically warned against removing identification devices and urged all ships navigating the Red Sea to avoid Israeli boats.
The Israeli military said on Sunday that there had been a hijacking of a cargo ship in the southern Red Sea.
About twenty-five crew members were on board when the Houthis took control of the cargo ship Galaxy Leader on Sunday in the Red Sea. According to Japan’s Chief Cabinet Secretary Hirokazu Matsuno, it is run by the shipping and logistics firm Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK) Line.
Japan has asked Saudi Arabia, Oman, and Iran to press the Houthis to release the ship and crew as quickly as feasible. Japan and Israel are currently cooperating.
According to State Department spokesman Matt Miller on Monday, the United States demands “the immediate release” of the cargo ship and crew that the Houthis took in the Red Sea.
The Houthi rebels in Yemen, who are backed by Iran, attempted to launch an aerial strike, but the Israeli military foiled them late last month.
A US official acquainted with the situation claims that on October 19, while heading north along the Red Sea, a US destroyer close to the Yemeni coast also shot down four cruise missiles and fifteen drones over the period of nine hours. According to the official, it was evident from the missiles’ trajectory that Israel was the target.
The missiles were launched by the Iran-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen, according to Pentagon press secretary Brig. Gen. Pat Ryder, and they were intended “potentially towards targets in Israel.” The US intercepting Houthi rockets is incredibly rare.
Despite decades of severe sanctions imposed by the US, Iran has continued to arm and train the Houthis in Yemen, the Syrian regime, Hezbollah in Lebanon, Hamas, and Islamic Jihad in Gaza.
