When it comes to giving his fans advice on how to stay in shape at any age through diet and exercise, Arnold Schwarzenegger has never held back. Given his distaste for monitoring macronutrients, he addressed inquiries regarding how he gains or loses size for his movie roles during a recent Q&A.
He wrote, “I call it turning the dial.” I experiment by adding or subtracting little amounts, chopping or adding bread, and then monitoring the results to adjust the amount if necessary.
Schwarzenegger has previously said that he doesn’t usually count calories. He also disclosed that he often doesn’t know how many calories he consumes on a typical day and instead relies only on his feelings and the physical signs, saying, “I really have never known anything and just turned the dial.”
From what he refers to as “his garbage disposal” days, Schwarzenegger’s diet has significantly improved, emphasising more greens and vegetables. As an environmentalist and health advocate, he has also come to support a meatless diet, arguing that other sources of protein provide ample capacity for muscle growth.
“There’s this misperception that that’s the only way you get big and strong, he previously told Men’s Health, adding that as he gets older, he actually feels better” when he eats less meat.
