Following a blackout, phone and internet service is progressively returning to Gaza, according to firms

After being shut off throughout the Palestinian enclave, communication services are gradually making their way back to select areas of Gaza, according to local suppliers.

This includes internet and phone connections. The Palestinian telecommunications provider PalTel announced on Monday, “We would like to announce the gradual return of communication services (fixed, cellular, and Internet) to work in various areas of the Gaza Strip after they were disconnected from the Israeli side.”

Similar updates were shared on Facebook by Ooredoo Palestine and JawwaL, two other telecom companies.

The Internet monitoring company Netblocks verified on Monday that internet connectivity was returning online in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter.

“Data indicates that internet access is gradually returning to the Gaza Strip following Sunday’s almost complete telecom outage, which was the second-longest since the start of the current conflict with Israel; overall service is still much below pre-war levels,” the group stated.

For the third time since October 7, there were communication problems in Gaza on Sunday, according to humanitarian organisations whose staff members were inside the enclave.

The Israeli military stated they had nothing to say in response to a question from CNN regarding earlier communications outages.

Human rights organisations “have found it increasingly challenging to document violations due to the intensity of Israel’s attacks and restrictions on communications,” according to a report released by Amnesty International in late October.
