The much awaited third season of ‘Only Murders in the Building’ debuted last week with Meryl Streep and Paul Rudd joining the original core group of Selena Gomez, Martin Short, and Steve Martin.
Our podcasting crew, Charles (Martin), Oliver (Short), and Mabel (Gomez), are presented with the most recent fatality in the third season of the mystery comedy, which was hinted at in the Season 2 finale: Charles co-stars with movie star Ben Glenroy (Rudd) in Oliver, a former theatre director, in his significant Broadway comeback piece.
The show received a rating of 2.5 out of 4 stars from USA TODAY TV writer Kelly Lawler, who also noted that the “slapstick shtick of ‘Only Murders’ is in danger of getting old” and that Streep’s casting “brings a surprising sense of whimsy to the popular series.” Rotten Tomatoes awarded Season 3 the “certified fresh” seal of approval. As of Friday, August 11, there have been 75 reviews of the programme, with an average rating of 99%.
Steve Martin, Martin Short and Selena Gomez return as Charles Haden-Savage, Oliver Putnam and Mabel Mora, respectively.
Ryan Broussard, Da’Vine Joy Randolph and Michael Cyril Creighton also return from Season 2.
The core trio is joined by Meryl Streep and Paul Rudd in Season 3.
Rudd made a cameo in the Season 2 finale as the star of a play Oliver is directing, Ben Glenroy. His character dies onstage and his death will be the main mystery of Season 3.
